Improving Communities Together

Welcome to the Manor Residents Association

Manor Residents Association is a voluntary group managed entirely by local residents from the Owton Manor area of Hartlepool. The Association was set up in May of 1989 in order to combat the growing concerns and problems that existed in the area at that time. Over its lifetime, the Association has continued to play a key role in the delivery of initiatives and activities which have been designed to benefit families living in the area.

Creating a sense of pride in the area, lessening social and economic isolation, combating social exclusion and improving the overall quality of life for local people has been the underpinning focus of the Association's work. By sustaining and increasing opportunities to develop new skills and increase confidence we are creating opportunities for local people to become involved in, and to play an active role in the continued physical and social regeneration of their community.

We continue to work across a broad spectrum and have been instrumental in developing and sustaining activities tailored to meet the needs and aspirations of all sections of the community. The Association's work continues to draw down much needed resources to the area which in turn enables us to address the social, economic and welfare needs of the community. The essence of effective service delivery is the maximisation of resources. In a world where demand will always exceed supply, we need to work with as many partners as possible. To this end, the association has continued to maintain and develop constructive and meaningful partnerships with a range of agencies and funder providers. It is important to remember that partnerships are not always about resources: they are also about sharing good practice, knowledge and information.

What we offer and how we respond to the needs of the Community

The Association offers a range of courses of both a vocational and recreational nature in addition to a drop-in facility where you are welcome to view what courses we are presently running or proposing to run subject to having viable numbers to take courses.

The courses on offer are provided by a wide range of funding bodies and are designed and tailored to meet the needs of those living in the local community. Further explanation on terms, conditions, eligibility and fees are available when you make your initial inquiry or enrol.

The Association works in partnership to provide a range of children's services including full day care, creche, breakfast club, after school provision and as well as out of term activities and programmes. Additionally we work alongside West View Advice and Resource Centre in the north of the town to provide a benefits and welfare advice service which addresses the needs of all sections of our community. On a practical level the association offers photocopying facilities, use of fax. and will make initial telephone inquiries on your behalf.
